Our Kindergarten students had a lot of fun playing with water and sand this morning at our botanical gardens. They were having a paper boat race, building sand castles, and participating in other enjoyable activities.

Water and sand play has numerous advantages for children's physical, mental, and emotional development. It provides children with a fun and engaging way to learn, explore, and develop a wide range of skills.

Earth Day is an annual celebration held on April 22nd to raise environmental awareness and encourage environmental protection. To commemorate Earth Day, YIS students went on a scavenger hunt through the botanical gardens this morning. They must locate and depict natural objects such as leaves, rocks, and flowers.

The goals of this event are to make students learn about the biodiversity in our school, how we are a part of nature, and why we should work to preserve it.

Unlike novels or longer works of fiction, short stories tend to be more focused and specific in their themes and narrative structures. They may be used to explore a particular idea, emotion, or experience.

In English Class, the YIS Grade 9 students created original stories based on culture and presented a podcast dressed as characters from their stories as part of extending their creativity.

Dhana, one of the students, wrote about a life journey of a Ronin named Miyamoto Musashi and how he found enlightenment in life. While Charlotte penned a story called Hung-Pao Full of Lies about a young man who is compelled to lie during the Chinese New Year dinner.

Well done, Grade 9 students! We cannot wait to hear and read more of your stories.

Yesterday evening, our Secondary students held a break-fasting program, a program initiated by them to build bonding moments amongst the school community and also to understand deeper the essentials of fasting. Not only break-fasting, but the students also shared some foods (takjil) with the local community.

As a consolidation and culmination process in the Middle Years Programme, Personal Project provides an opportunity for the students to undertake an independent and age-appropriate exploration into an area of personal interest.

This year, the projects are wrapped under the theme of "From Passion to Creation". For about 7 months, students of MYP Year 5 (Grade 10), have gone through the inquiry process, planning, taking action, and reflecting under the guidance of their supervisors, Ibu Jennifer, Ibu Siska, Ibu Artika, Pak Herli, and Pak Dindit.
