A balanced education
The Middle Years Programme encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.

Welcome to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IB-MYP) at YIS! These important, formative years are centred around developing the skills and understandings necessary for success in Grades 7 to 10 and beyond. The MYP aims to help students through this crucial time by fostering a sense of belonging and a positive attitude toward learning. Learning how to learn, how to evaluate information and how students can communicate their learning are important aspects of the programme.

One of the highlights of the MYP at YIS is the Design program, which takes students through the stages of the design process – from investigation to planning, taking action and reflection. Some examples of recent student products include: filmed advertisements, bamboo furniture, learning games, digital animation and sustainable fashion pieces.

One of the goals of this program is to expose students to all design areas, tapping into their creativity in order to generate unique products through digital and manual processes.

In all subjects and courses within the MYP, we encourage our students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers who are prepared to engage positively with the world around them. With a focus on specific subjects as well as interdisciplinary learning, our MYP students learn to inquire deeper, to draw on their creativity to interpret their findings, and to take responsible action.

Should you have any questions regarding our Middle Years Programme, do not hesitate to contact me or Kencana Candra (MYP Coordinator).
