Grade 9 IB MYP displayed their energetic cheerfulness with their original writing and creativity during their “Slam Poetry” activity. As slam poetry is a form of performance, the climax of creativity strung together their posters, dynamic writing, and brilliant performance. Each student focused on an intriguing idea, researched details, ultimately using their passion and energy into the final performances. The highlight of the concept was students exploring topics like youth empowerment, body shaming, humanity gone wrong with a sinkhole environmental impact and the greed for money being a game and taking over humanity.
Through this activity students were extremely expressive, developed exceeding amount of self-confidence in their skill and abilities. Above all they learnt the true meaning of being an IB MYP risk taker as they received positive feedback and a standing ovation from the audience.
We are proud to announce that one of our existing Grade 12 students, Katlyn Olivia Yusie, has been accepted by a prestigious university. The strong commitment of the student, along with the support of the dedicated teachers & the YIS curriculum (IB Diploma Programme) which is recognized worldwide, have made it possible for this to happen.
We are looking forward to sharing more outstanding achievements from our students at YIS.
There are several avenues to support children who are left alone to fend for themselves. These children are sometimes left in orphanages, with no idea where to earn their bread and butter. Knowing about this kind of situation, Our Grade 1 and 2 students wanted to ensure that those children are not just shunted out to brave the streets without any help or support.
To show their concern, the PYP of Grade 1 and 2, in the Unit of Inquiry (UoI) class, collaborated with the DP CAS program and collected some donations. They then wrapped and gave the donations as presents for the children in Rumah Impian@thedreamhouseid . This is a great opportunity for the PYP Grade 1 and 2 to learn about how they are connected to a wider community.
The Personal Project in the MYP is an opportunity for students to select a topic that they are particularly interested in. It can be seen as the climax of the MYP experience where students can have an opportunity to indulge a passion and demonstrate the skills that they have developed through their approaches to learning. Our MYP Personal Project Exhibition was held today, 1 April 2022. The Grade 10 YIS students have shown their unlimited creativity through the IB MYP Personal Project Virtual Exhibition.
Let's see how amazingly creative our MYP students are in creating a breakthrough for the development of culture, the environment, and the human being.
